I absolutely love the group revision process. I was more than happy to be a part of the five person group so I could get awesome feedback from even more of my peers. I know something incredibly helpful recommended to me was making my objective/ goal section stand on its own a bit more. I was also recommended to potentially spread my margins out minimally to allow a wider spread for my resumes content. Taylor also made a nice visual point about adding another space or two between my first and last name at the top.
I also feel I offered some solid feedback to my group members as well. I know we incorporated the use of google docs and I employed the editing feature to help clearly make sure my feedback was understood. Outside of using google docs, I feel I gave solid verbal feedback as well. I know I offered a lot of small critiques to my group’s objectives, which I think they found kind of helpful. I also offered a lot of visual critiques in terms of spacing and utilization of blank space. For the most part though, no one in the group needed any major revisions. There were a few changes of verbage and tensing type things, but everyone in the group had a generally solid and well put together first draft. It was a great process!

Journal 15:

Now that this resume project is completed, I feel a lot more confidence in my ability to make adjustments to my resume all on my own. I know I had a strong basis because I had gotten a lot of help from the strong writing/ professional influences in my life and their strong networking connections. I used to have to lean heavily on these resources, which has helped me have a strong start for where I’m at professionally. I think this is part of why my group had less content based feedback and more spacing and visual notes. The wording aspect and content of my resume are something I’ve worked incredibly hard to craft over the years, and function to show I have experience, but sadly have not worked anywhere long enough to have major metrics to show in my resume (like someone who is already working in the field might have).
I appreciated all of the helpful visual feedback and realized that sometimes, I overlook simple tricks like changing the margins and adding a few spaces just so things are separated out more. I also decided that sometimes, too many cooks in the kitchen and getting too much feedback can be overwhelming. Part of it is simply confidence in your format and knowing in your gut you put forth the best representation of yourself.
